Hi, please excuse my ignorance. Iam a Christian who is trying to learn more about other religions. I would like to know...from what I understand, the quran decribes God as being both good and evil and changes at his own whim. Could someone give me clearer understanding of Allah, his character as described in the quran, and who he is? I do not want general opinions without reference please. When someone asks me about God I use my Bible as a reference, and that's what I would like from the Quran. thanks!!! :)

The word Allh is the Arabic term for "God".

Although, outside the Arab world, use of the word Allh is most often associated with Islam, it is not exclusive to that faith; Arab Christians and various Arabic-speaking Jews (including the Teimanim, several Mizraḥi communities and some Sephardim) also use it to refer to the monotheist deity. Arabic translations of the Bible also employ it, as do Roman Catholics in Malta (who pronounce it as "Alla"), Christians in Indonesia, who say "Allah Bapa" (God the Father) and Christians in the Middle East who use the Aramaic "Allha".

Cicely:

Once again you are being very vague. Where in the Quran does it say anything like this about God? You show me these false verses and the numbers of these false verses and I will prove they do not exist.

If you cannot produce these false verses then why would you believe they exist?

Once again, I can claim any crazy thing I want to about the Bible, but unless I can give you specifics, how could you ever disprove it?

Im asking about the concept. I need to hear from someone who is familiar with these claims that other religions have made about Islam. Just like there are ideas about Christianity that people get confused because of what they have heard, so there are those about Islam. as a christian who studies my faith regularly, I am able to find answers to general claims that others have made about Christianity. I did not state anything that is foreign to those who understand theology outside of their religion of islam. It is important for muslims to know what kinds of claims other religions state about Islam so that they will be able to enlighten or explain their belief to non-believers. I didn't make these claims up off the top of my head. please do not anwer if you are not familiar with what I mentioned.

Thanks for enlightening us. There are many web sites that defame Islam and Muslims. I hope you are here to listen to what we Muslims actually believe about Islam.

Cicely:

The problem with what you are saying is that most Muslims don't go to these anti-Islamic websites because they are so false and so hateful that we just choose to ignore them.

If someone has a specific question that is different, but to just try to address every false accusation made against Islam would be virtually impossible.

The Quran never states that God is evil in any way. We believe the Quran is the actual word of God revealed to the Prophet Mohammed by the angel Gabriel. Why would God call Himself evil?

The Quran describes God as: the Most Merciful, Most Compassionate, Oft-Forgiving, The Source of Peace, The Protector, The Sustainer, The Bountiful, The Responsive, The Wise, The Loving...all these beautiful attributes plus so much more.

"No soul shall have a burden laid on it greater than it can bear." (Quran 2:233)

Allah Almighty says in a hadith qudsi, "O My servant! If you take one step toward Me, I take ten toward you."

God is love, forgiveness, and beauty beyond our comprehension.

This is not entierly true. I am a visitor of website created by so called Ali Sina, freedom-faith.

Its really funny to see them trying hard to twist Islam.
They even make up fake suras and fake translations.

Assalamu Alaikum AK:

I said most Muslims... there are always some who dare to be different...

Personally I find them tiring. I get enough questions from my family and people on the streets, I don't wanna go looking for trouble.
