Here's a joke making the rounds in the e-mail circuit. Hope it brightens your day if u have n't already read it.

An Old Arab lived close to NewYork City for more than 40 years. One day he decided  that he would  love to plant  potatoes  and herbs in his garden, but he knew he was alone and too old and weak

His son was in college in Paris, so the old man sent him an e-mail explaining the problem :

"Beloved son, Iam very sad, because i can't plant potatoes in my garden. I am sure , if only u were here, that u would help me dig up the garden for me. I love you, Your father."

The following day, the old man received a response e-mail from his son :

"Beloved father, please don't touch the garden. That is  where i have hidden "the THING", I love you, too. AHMED"

At 4 pm the US army, the Marines, the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, the OHS and the Rangers visited the house of the old man and took whole garden apart, searching every inch. But they could n't find anything. Disappointed , they left the house. The next day, the old man received another e-mail from his Son.

"Beloved father, I hope the garden is dug up by now and u can plant your potatoes. That is all i could do for you from here. Your loving Son. Ahmed.

I went to a buthcer shop and asked for the skull of the goat because that is considered a delicacy. It was an army rule in the country and a general was ruling. Civilian People of course were not happy about it.

The butcher asked me what kind of skull you want sir? There are two types. You want the civilian scull or the military one??

I was surprised and did not understand. So I asked the shopkeeper (Shop was full of customers) to explain.

He said that civilian scull will cost 20 more than the fauji (military) skull. I again asked him about it. He said that the civilian skull is with the brain in it and the military skull will be with the brain removed from it (meaning, without the brain).

minuteman, I did not completely follow through with your story.

what do you mean by "it was an army rule in the country and a general was ruling,"?  and what does that have anything to do with a butcher shop?

was the pun in the end about how the civilian skull had a brain while the military skull had none?  but what does a civilian skull have anything to do with the skull of a goat?

sorry, i'm lost

Bismillah,

Just as Musharraf has imposed military rule of lawl (lessness) in Pakistan this week..., so too in this story:  The military were in charge instead of regular, civil laws and codes, ostensibly because of some emergency.

People buy and eat animal brains.  He is saying that the skull and the brain, being more valuable and hinting at its intelligence, also implies that the goat skull without the brain is less valuable, less intelligent, and therefore qualifies for the nickname "miliatary skull" -- a brainless one.

Both of these --

Yes, something like that. The butcher took me by surprise. Instead of asking me whether I wanted the full whole head of the goat or I wanted the one with the brain removed, he used the terminology, the civilian scull (Head) or the military one. I was unaware of that.

The civil People were fed up with the military men. So they made up these jokes to downplay the army. That was a way to tell every one that the army mens head had no brain.

May be I could not describe it the first time. May be the word scull was not proper and I should have used the word "Head" instead.

I see now :)  Thank you both for clearifying.   From your experience minuteman, what was the country you were in that imposed the military rule upon the people?

Like herjihad is saying, Pakestan right now is defenetly going through that. Lawyers and other citizens that are speaking out against such an enforsement and the complete neglection of the constitution of the land, they are all imprisoned. :(
