As-salaam alaikum.  Today's khutbah was a short summary of the story of Prophet Suleiman (Solomon) and his correspondence with the Queen of Sheba.  Suleiman sent a bird to the people of Sheba, which reported back that they worshiped the sun.  In response, Suleiman urged them to worship none but Allah (swt).  When the Queen was coming to Suleiman's court, he asked who in his court could bring her throne before her arrival, so that he could show her the many blessings Allah (swt) had given her.  At first, a jinn volunteered to bring the throne in a short amount of time but Suleiman rejected him because he wanted the throne to be in the court immediately.  Then a man who was knowledgeable of the scripture volunteered.  Amazingly, the throne was immediately made present in the court.

As-salaam alaikum.  Today's khutbah was about tawbah.  The imam first mentioned that when we sin, we should immediately try to balance it with a good deed.  Also, it is imperative that we do tawbah as well, since not doing tawbah for a sin is a sin itself.

Today's khutbah was of course about Ramadan and its rewards.  The imam spoke about the virtues of fasting during this holy month.  He mentioned how the Shaitan is imprisoned during Ramadan and that any sin we commit is proof that we actually have two enemies in our lives.  One is Shaitan and is our own nafs and we must do battle with both.  Ramadan mubarak to all brothers and sisters.

Today's khutbah was a continuation of the previous week and was about the holy month of Ramadan.  The virtues of fasting were mentioned by the imam such as that on the Day of Judgment, those who fasted during Ramadan would be called to Paradise from the gate of ar-Rayaan.  Also, each day of fasting protects us from the hellfire for a distance whose length takes 70 years to traverse.

Today's khutbah was about controlling our baser selves during Ramadan.  Whether it is anger or impatience, we must train ourselves to resist these things so that we may get the maximum benefit of fasting.

Today's khutbah discussed standing in night prayers (Tarawih) during Ramadan with the intention of having your sins forgiven, and not simply standing out of tradition.

Today, the imam mentioned how a believer acts when good happens to him and when bad happens to him.  When good happens, he is thankful to Allah (swt) but when bad things happen, he is patient and knows that Allah (swt) knows what is best.  We may not like something that happens to us, but it may actually be of benefit later on.
