OMG I just saw this thread after Seeks sent me the link!
 JazakAllah Khair everyone for your wishes and duas! They mean a lot to me! My husband is from overseas, and he left a few days ago. Will inshAllah join him soon after visa issues are taken care of. Pls make dua that we are reunited soon inshAllah :-). [we were married a few weeks ago] [And jazakAllah Seeks, for breaking the news... I was wondering how to 'announce' it]. May Allah bless you all for making duas for us. |

Assalamu alaykum everyone,
It's me, Sr. Chrysalis's husband : ) I actually signed up here on Islamicity before we were married (when we were still in the 'deciding' phase) in order to look up all of Sr. Chrysalis's posts. (She told me she posts a lot here, and even told me her username, so I was like, why not? :) ) Masha'Allah, they showed she seems like a nice person, so I was quite happy with that :) Any 'newfound wisdom': I realized that many of the problems our society faces can be solved by marriage. Marriage provides much-needed emotional and psychological stability and protects people from all kinds of sins. Also, a person (or at least a man) becomes much more steady, calm, mature, and responsible after marriage, insha'Allah. Hence my newfound philosophy that a man is a "male" before marriage, and a "man" after marriage
My advice to unmarried people (now that I'm married now, masha'Allah ) is to make lots of dua to Allah (SWT) for a blessed and happy marriage. Read the marriage dua of Musa (AS) after every fardh salah: "Rabbi innee limaa anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqeer" (My Lord, I am indeed needy of any good You can send down on me). It's all in the hands of Allah (SWT) what kind of spouse you get. Even if you do all your homework, there's no telling what's inside the heart of a potential spouse, so a marriage to an understanding, pious, compatible spouse is a real blessing of Allah (SWT). Alhamdulilah, Allah (SWT) granted me more than I could have ever even expected :)
One thing I didn't know before marriage that I know now: Compatibility is important. I used to think I would be fine with some random chick from the village. Being able to communicate, discuss, and joke around with your spouse is very important. For example, both me and my wife use iPhones and are Internet addicts, so it gives us lots of things to talk about and relate to each other through. Hope I didn't bore you all with my long bayaan type thing :) You have a wonderful community here, masha'Allah. May Allah (SWT) bless your community and accept all your efforts to serve His deen, ameen. Oh, and any questions are welcome :) Jazakumullahu khairan you guys. May Allah (SWT) grant us all beautiful, pious, and compatible spouses, ameen. |
