Walaikum Salam wa Rahmatullah,

JazakiAllahu khayr, sister for your answer. Shall add up to your answer.

Prophet saws had made treaty  with the Quraysh at Hudaibiya. One of the conditions was that if any Meccan accepted  Islam and wanted to settle in Medina must be surrendered to the Quraysh. But if any of the Medina muslims shud go to  mecca, the Meccans would not send him back to Medina. No sooner had this treaty been made than a Meccan youth  by the name Abu Jandal escaped from Mecca and came to Hudaibiyyah.  blood stained and in chains abraded , pleaded with the muslims not to send him back to the idolators, now that he had accepted islam.  This was extremely sensitive moment.

The companions of teh Prophet drew their swords. The sight of Abu Jandal had aroused their feelings to such  a degree that most of them wanted to break the treaty and save his life. The quraysh  meanwhile remined  the Prophet  that this was an occasion on which  he would be obliged to abide by the pact that had  been between  them. Finally the Prophet decided that he cud not go back  on the terms taht he had been agreed upon. Painful as  this decision  was for the Muslims. Abu Jandal was returned  to the Quraysh. Ostensibly the Prophet was putting  an innocent victim  of opression back into the clutches  of his oppressors. But in effect, he was acting  on the highest  of moral principles. The oppressors in turn were confounded and awestruck  by such uniquely  moral conduct , and then it became no ordinary matter for them to take Abu Jandal away and imprison him.  rather the event became  symbolic of their own degradation in contrast to the moral  ascendancy of Islam.

The result of this was that the people of mecca were won  over by the high etical standards of Islam which  many of them started to embrace. Abu Jandal's presence  in Mecca  became a living testament to the truth of Prophet's Faith. Even as a prisoner  Abu Jandal appeared to be as threat to the captives. to their national security. Eventually they  deemed it prudent to free him and deport him to Makkah.

Next Question

Here's a very intresting story of a sahaba into Islam.

One day when he was busy at the market, his friend Abdullah bin Rawaha visited his house, sought permission for entry from his wife  and proceeded to his personal chamber and struck repeatedly with an axe at the idols arranged there and smashed them to smithreens. He then quietly departed.

The lady of the house noticed it later and began to wail. When he came home, she recounted the incident.

At first he got wild, but later cooled down and contemplated. He thought, the gods would have defended themselves had they least of power. He then reflected on the message of the Prophet for belief in one, invisible Almighty God. It made extreme sense to him. He immediately rushed to Abdullah bin Rawahas house, took him along and came to the Prophet and embraced Islam.

Who's this sahaba ?

As'sallamualaikum,

Interesting story, I did not know the answer. So I looked it up (is that allowed? or is that cheating? Smile )

The answer is Abudarda. (R.a)

"O Lord, forgive me, my parents and Muslims in the Hereafter. O Lord, show mercy on them as they showed mercy to me when I was young."

As Salamu Alaikum

Yes, its Abu Darda RA. JazakiAllahu khayr for the answer.

Its not cheating at all. Infact, in our earlier pages, when we started up our thread, we did decide that the answers can be from anywhere. Its not possible that we know all.

Br. Saladin, thanks for letting us know that you are reading. But don't show your teeth Big%20smile

Salaam alaikum,

Think this the answer....

"There will be rulers after me whoever believes in their lies and helps them in their injustice (oppression) and visits them regularly he is not one of me and I am not one of them (i.e. he has nothing to do with me and I have nothing to do with him) and he will never come to my fountain on the day of judgement. And the one who never helped them in their own injustice and doesn't go to their doors he is one of me and I am one of them and he will come to my fountain on the day of judgement." [Imam Shirazi and Tirmidhi]

Looked it up, as usual..... Stern%20Smile...hm hm
