By S.G. Jilanee Yes, it is time, indeed high time, to rediscover Islam. There is a need to do this because what is going on under the rubric of Islam is not only a poor imitation, but sometimes even a disfigured copy of the original. Islam is already under attack from various quarters and it is time we respond, arguing our case logically, persuasively and convincingly and demolish the charges that are levied against Islam. Some genuine questions that agitate minds of the believers need to be answered satisfactorily. "Put up or shut up," won't do. It is time we ourselves raise questions and seek their answers. The slogan that the Quran is a "complete code of human life" has become a worn out cliche. People ask for evidence. Source: The New Nation Edited by Opinion |

Excellent article ! We must delve into the Quran, Sunnah and the Golden period of Islamic History. Our young generation should take a dip into the rich & vast Ocean of Islamic Civilisation and come out with an nalytical views which influenced the the humanity any way. Islam is not a pre-historic religion. It's every moment is well documented. If the prophet challenges that he possesses elixir for the dying humanity, practically he applied it on one of the most barbar community and within very short period they became the torch bearer for the so called civilised world. World could not produce a single character like those purely moulded in Islamic anvils. A helpless women gives false consolence to her hungry children in a far corner of desert and the emperor comes to her rescue of his own. A helpless father cries help for the humilation caused by desecrating her daughter by the king far in Europe and the commander comes to his rescue to fullfil the commitments given by him to his Lord. It may be refused but can not be denied that the expansion of Islamic emperor was not the apetite of lust but it was only a sincere effort to fullfil the commitment to his creator (It does not include the post victories of so called Muslim Kings, who were never committed to Allah and this was the reason that wherever they ruled they could not change the heart and mind of the people). I am not an Aalim & much less acquainted to Arabic literature. But, Alhamdulilla, one who created us and revealed "Quran" in Arabic Language, has provided an ample opportunity to study His verdicts in different languages. A thourough study of Quran clearly embebs the laws of nature which are universal to the mankind. It is quite evident at times that whoever adopts it reaps the benefit. I closely studied the verses in Quran describing the character of Momins and really heart jumps out that no where we stand to it. I closely studied the character of those Muslim in our socieity who are respected as pious and it might be possible that they are very puctual to their "Tahazzud", but other aspects of Momin's character seems to be totally deleted & considered unwanted. Basic difference becomes quite evident when we study the character of Companions of the prophet. They were the best for their family, their negbours, their socieity and for the entire humanity. They never preferred their 'self' unto the rules of Allah and the quidance of prophet. Every moments they were fearful to disobedience of Allah. Every moments of the prophet is like white paper before us. I surprise where we are looking for a perfect character. Why we are divided more than any other community on this earth. It is the prime ,as well as, the last opportunity that we apply our wisdom and come out with the gist practically. Otherwise we have no chance to revive. Allah haafiz

Jazakallahu Khayran; I am very much in agreement with this article. I look around the Ummah (in my own backyard & around the world) and I see "so-called reformist" seeking to weaken Islam. I see Muslims, making excuses for our "un-Islamic" behavoir and I see racism & nationalism destroying the unity of our faith. Allah (SWT) gave us a "perfected religion" and a perfect human being in Prophet Muhammad (SWS) to demonstrate it to us. There is no excuse for us allowing ourselves to be in the condition that we are in, save one....we are NOT following the laws on Allah (SWT) and the examples of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). |

May Allah bless you for your contribution to a greater understanding of what it means to be a Muslim. I am in awe of your writing and the depth of the message. Islam has needed a voice such as yours for quite some time. Tisha Saccarelli
