' Do not deceive yourself with the vain imagination that the spirit of man will
die when the body dies' (Al-Ghazali). What is commonly identified as soul/spirit may very well be an invisible body made of dark matter atoms.
Science is incomplete. Scientists are not omniscient. Imcomplete science makes it obligatory for imperfect scientists to let all the benefits of doubt be in favor of life and liberty and not death and enslavement. Today's science fiction is tomorrow's science.
Is it ethical for scientists to associate with efforts to make use of government powers to devalue life in any manner at any stage of human development?
Both womb and tomb "realities' need a second look if Bio Dark Matter and its Chemistry are possible in the biosphere. Intrinsic Values & Incomplete Science
There are many recent publications on psychic events, Chanelling (as in SETH/Jane Robert) for example. Could these be Dark Matter phenomena? Dark Matter atoms may yield, dark chemistries which in turn may lead to dark biology and a an invisible body for every human, 'chanelling' with each other for common causes. (GOOGLE for Dark matter, Dark Chemistry, Dark Biology, Invisible Homo Sapiens, Dark Politics..) Ordinary Chemistry is based on electron configurations (Octet, Duet), spin and forces. Dark Matter atoms may have Dark matter Chemistry (Dark Chemistry) based on the same principles as in ordinary chemistry.
These chemistries may be governed by genetic factors, such that completion of the most stable 'invisible body' occurs only in humans, less stable complete in animals and the least stable in plants. The Dark particles may be in differential union (spin-spin coupling) with the visible counterparts across the taxa. This seems to be supported by the differential rates of Biophoton Emissions, with plant cells giving the most and human cells giving the least rate of emission. The Dark Matter counterparts are non-electric (invisible), non-entropic (stable and intransient) and not subject to constant flux and recycling. Whether astrophysical dark matter or string-theoretical axion exists or not will not be a serious issue as far as the biosphere is concerned. Rather, is there a bio-dark-matter lurking behind sentient processes?
Empirically a vegetative state is common to all sentience, an animal state is common to animals including humans, but the anthropic state with its MIND is unique to humans only. Experimentally the bio-photon emission from live plant cells is about 10 times more than that of human cells, with animal cells having a rate in between. Interaction of dark matter (non-electric) with visible matter (electric) is reported to emit radiations [perhaps these extremely low frequency (ELF) biophotons also]. A differential distribution of these bio-dark matter across the taxa may explain the differences in the rates of emission of these ELF. This is an inaccurate assumption of scientific theory. Science (and scientist) do not presume to know anything, rather, presume to know things through empirical study and repetition. Most religionist presuppose that science exclaims judgements about the world when really it is against science to make such judgements. With respect to the information displayed here I would say that this entire presentation as far as the "soul's makeup" is more theoretical than factual and THAT is more along the lines the bassis of faith because it cannot be proven. This is more along the lines of metaphysics than anything.

Noetic Response:
1. Dark matter is physical. I have given the references including the one in Nature where two Indian scientists report "axions detected".
2. There is no metaphysical discussion other than mentioning that what Al-Ghazali refers to as 'spirit' may be aproduct of dark matter chemistry. I was only trying to reify that.
3. if you object to such chemistry, the same objections can be and should be raised for ordinary chemistry at all.
Why should there be anything at all, let alone chemistry?

Although there is a presence of "something" whether physical or otherwise, doesn't constitute the soul, I believe that was the position.

Even the 'moderns' could not have figured this out 40 years ago, since Dark Matter is a very recent concept slowlybecoming an experimental fact. So, there was no way the ancients however brilliant could have thought of anything invisibly material. They thought in terms something mystical.
What I am trying to tell the world is that call it by any name you want to, there is a distinct and reasonable rationale for the existence of an invisible, durable physical body coupled parallel to the visible via spin-spin mechanisms.
