As Salamu Alaikum wa rahmatullah

Welcome to the discussions at Islamicity.

Sumayya, here's the hadith, hope you shall get your answer

It was narrated from Aaishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went to bed every night, he would hold his hands together and blow into them, and recite into them Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad, Qul aoodhu bi rabb il-falaq and Qul aoodhu bi rabb il-naas. Then he would wipe them over whatever he could of his body, starting with his head and face and the front of his body, and he would do that three times. Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5017).

Kindly note, it says, Prophet sallal lahu alayhi wasallam used to blow and after reciting used to wipe.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: All the descendants of Adam are sinners, and the best of sinners are those who repent."

Assalamu alaikum,

Well the hadith that you indicate here, speaks about blowing and NOT spitting, you dont have to spit.

The related hadith is:

Aaishah reported that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went to bed, he would cup his hands together, blow into them and recite into them Qul huwa Allaahu ahad [Soorat al-Ikhlaas], Qul aoodhu bi Rabbil-falaq [Soorat al-Falaq] and Qul aoodhu bi Rabbil-naas [Soorat al-Naas] (these are the last 3 soorahs of the Quraan Translator). Then he would wipe as much of his body as he could with his hands, starting with his head and face, and the front of his body. He would do this three times. (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 4630)

Hope this helps,
Jazakallah.
