Salaam to all:
You know I have been pray for so long on many serious things in my life.  My question is this, how do we know when Allah talk to us, how do we know  his answer to us?  How do we know the answer we get is not our own thoughts, our own feeling or desire.  This makes me afraid so much because sometime we go the wrong way because we think the answer is from Allah, how can we tell when it is he that speak to us?

When you pray something from Allah and you seek His guidance than Allah create that for you(He show you); for example:
   - someone told you(but you did not ask him)
   - You 'suddenly' read answer in some book

My example:

Recently I was read something about God's miracle's i.e. "what happens with people when they sleep" and then (same day) I went at my friend house and it was to late and his young daughter fell asleep on couch and he suddenly mention some funny(for them) event with his daughter, but for me it was proof what I read that day. SmileWink

Emin,
Yes I understand what you are saying, it has happen to me many times, but I was not sure if it was just my own mind or Allah bring answers to me.  Still sometime I am not sure.  You know many times our own mind play tricks on us.  We think, oh this is the answer from Allah but it was only our own desires.  That is what make me confused.

You can not hear voice from Allah. Allah inspire you, and only through experience you will know difference. Many things must 'cover' in right time that you can know 'this is it', and you can not get answer by changing your behavior or by controlling i.e. living in expectation when will this happen; IT JUST HAPPEN!

I can not give better answer!Ermm

Emin Salaam,
thank you for your answer.  You know its very hard living in this world, there is so much expected of us, and when I really think about it, it becomes overwhelming.  I was driving to work this morning and I was thinking while in my car, I say to myself.  I am reading a book about how to deal with disappointments, its a good book by a rabbi Harold Kushner.  But I get confused many times, he say Allah want us to be happy and have pleasure and I believe it and we are not to live alone because Adam was not alone, and Allah try to give us the desires of our heart and not take from us our ability to choose.  So then, why when many of us choose to be married or choose to be mothers or fathers it does not happen?  This I do not understand, this book says that Allah will never take away our right to choose as he promised so then, why many men and woman never find each other as their heart desires it?

Because our heart desires is not every time sincere. We can not control that events. God says: Believe in Me i.e. believe that I will give you everything what is best for you!

There is one proverb: Man have dreams, but God decides(when is the best time).

Do not give me wrong: we all born with our passion, because of that we have Islam(right Way, everything what is the real true).

You know I am trying so hard, so hard to get to where all of you are.  Its so hard to me and more because I am probably older than a lot of you, then most of you, so it makes me feel bad that I have these questions.  You know its like walking in a maze, u think should I go here or there, or step here or there and it gets to be so much because really we want to do the right things so badly, and we think and think on it so hard trying to find the right steps.

Neither one question is bad, and it is not shame to ask!

Sometimes I also feel like I walk in maze but God told us:
For truly with hardship comes ease; truly with hardship comes ease. (Surat al-Inshirah: 5-6)

With every difficulty God show us path in witch he give us relief if we are steadfast in ours difficulties.

... Whoever has fear of God - He will give him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect. Whoever puts his trust in God - He will be enough for him... (Surat at-Talaq: 2-3)

Maybe God put me that He give you relief.TongueSmileEmbarrassed
