There is a thread on a similar issue:

Just google this quotation
Bismillah rahman niraheem.

Many moderates and peoples of this age talks about DNA tests as a proof to convict or accuse a person of adultry and fornication although i have searched the matter from islamic point view but still there are some suspicions regarding the authenticity and un authenticity of DNA test results according to Islamic laws and doctrines

Hope it helps

Assalamu alaikum.

The issue of fornication and adultery in the shari'a right from the time of Moses is a serious issue that must be avoided. The story of the Children of Lot, Joseph and the lady who preferred to be stoned by the holy Apostle threw light to personal responsibility and the use of the freedom of choice Allah granted to us. So the use of DNA testing for criminality could be against the Shari'a because one is now forced to repent and amend. On the other hand it is a useful tool in deterring crime. This is the characteristic of the Shari'a. If such issues could be allowed to be interpreted by Muslim scientists the better. But you find such interpretations from those scholars who do not understand science.
