Going on three years without any religious faith, Judaic teachings do nothing for me, I have a hard time even stomaching Catholicism, Mormonism, and a few other religious beliefs. That was until about an hour ago when I was talking with an Islamic friend of mine on Facebook. I used to work with him and he was one of the smartest and generous people I've ever known. I got to talking about the Islamic faith and realized that it actually seems to make a lot more sense than anything I've heard. I can honestly say up until tonight I've been somewhat ignorant towards the Islamic faith and commenting on it in the average intolerant American would, but am now wishing I could take it all back.

Where can I learn more about Islam? I've read through everything I possibly could in one sitting on Islamicity.com and I actually want to know more. As much as possible.

Jayse, you've been on the right track all along.  This is just one more religion with all the baggage that goes with it.  We look for meaning where there is none because we are to afraid to accept randomness.  That's why religion was invented.  Don't be afraid.

Hello Jayse,

Welcome to the forum. Smile

It is nice to see that you are searching for the truth.

On the main web site, there is a link where you may gradually increase your learning about Islam:

Another link relates to the Qur'an translation in various languages:

Whenever you don't understand any verse or its context, please feel free to ask someone who is knowledgeable to answer your queries.

Please take one step at a time and take your time to learn and grow. May Allah bless you in your quest for truth.

May Allah guide us all.

Peace
Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?
Qur'an 55:13

You are welcome. You may include the following link to study the hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him):

Again, if the meaning or the context of a hadith is not clear, please ask someone who may explain it to you.

Qur'an is the word of Allah. Sunnah or the hadith is the word of the Prophet (peace be upon him) inspired by Allah.  The prophet (peace be upon him) practically showed us how to follow and practice Islam.

You may also read a book "Islam in Focus" by Hammudah Abdalati for basic understanding of Islam.

May Allah guide us all.

Peace
