Don't be confused Abu.
Muslim believe the religion of Prophet Adam pbuh is Islam too.
However general understanding of a non Muslim, Islam started since Prophet Muhammad pbuh got revelation. So about 609 CE, (prophet Muhammad pbuh was born 570 CE and the first revelation he received was when he was 40). Edited by semar - 07 November 2010 at 11:51pm |

Islam with its Shari'a to mankind began that very moment Adam was created and taught the nature of things by Allah. Read the commentary of the Old Testament by Rev. Matthew Henry the Book of Genesis. Allah never called one with a name other than a Muslim, meaning that one will certainly obey that Messenger sent to him by Allah. |

Noticing that your comment was your first post, salamo aleikom and welcome to the IC forum. I hope the above posts of Friendship and semar clarified for you. When Friendship says "Allah never called one with a name other than a Muslim" it is meant that because Allah had bestowed Adam his prophet-hood Adam is inherently Muslim. A Muslim is one who follows Islam. Therefore the very first seed of Islam began with Adam's creation. Throughout the ages as the different prophets Abraham, Moses (along with many others) obeyed Allah, Islam evolved. It is said that the Prophet Muhamad was the seal (end of the line) of the prophets.
