Does anyone know of any Islamic schools in Syria in or very near Damascus?

Shouldn't all of the schools in Syria be "islamic" (with the exception of international and/or some private schools)?  If you're Syrian perhaps someone back home could inform you of a good school.  To my knowledge, no one on the boards is Syrian.  Good luck in sha allah.

Well all of the schools teach Islam but I was talking about a traditional islamic school with little or no secular subjects.  I know my relatives should find out info but only one or two support what I want to do.  Because they don't think being an alim is a good job.

Just remember that going to an "islamic school" will only make you a "alim" if the esteblishment feels you are in line with them. Why don't you go to the vatican instead? become a bishop or priest or maybe even the pope.
