  Assalam alaykum,
In Ayat 31 of Surat Ibrahim, peace be upon him, of the Holy Qur'an (14:31), Allah, Azza Wa Jallah, says:--
      "Tell those of My Servants who believe that they should
        establish the prayer [Sallat], and spend out of what We
        have provided them with, both secretly and openly, be-
        fore arrival of the Day when there will be no bargaining,
        nor any mutual befriending."
 
 Relative to this, someone asked the beloved Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam:- "What action(s) are most excellent?", and he replied: "to gladden the heart of a human being, to feed the hungry, to help the afflicted, to lighten the sorrow of the sorrowful, and to remove the wrongs of the injured."
