Assalaamualaikum

Ok i am gradually working into prayer at different times of the day.  so is there a special prayer i can say upon getting up in the morning, one at noon and one before i go to sleep at night.  Maybe not the ritual prayers that are said. i'm not ready for that yet. I have to take this by degrees.

Do I need a copy of the hadith?

second question about prayer.

What does Islam say about the Our Father prayer? (I hestitate to use the words Lord's prayer)

And thirdly, by saying your prayers 5 times a day and often repeating the same thing over and over does that become sort of repetition without much thought or feeeling. if i say the same prayer over and over it often loses meaning and becomes just a repetition and my mind is wandering some where else. how do you keep that from happening?

Walaikum assalam:
This what I read as Sunnah of the Prophet (saw)
Waking up prayer:
All praises are due to Allah who has given us life (consciousness) after taking it away. And to Him is our raising (on the day of judgment )

No prayer at the Noon time.

Prayer before bedtime:
Brush your teeth and do your wudhu
read bismillah ========before each of the following:
read sura ikhlas#112;falaq # 113 & an-naas #114 in your Quraan.
then read
In your name I have laid my side and with your help I shall rise. If You withhold my life then forgive it and if send it back then protect it as You would your pious servants.
And also this
O! Allah in Your name I die n I live.
I seek forgiveness from Allah besides whom there is none worthy of worship, the living, the sustainer(of life) and to Him I repent.

The Our Father prayer is man made

vs

The Opening of Chapter of Quran/Sura Fatiha (i.e., Islamic Lord's Prayer)  is Allah made & revealed.

It's recitation  is a compulsory part of mandatory(Fard) prayers.

You can see by comparing them side by side!!

This part of the question is sort of contradiction to your first question,

I think you are talking about regular supplications (Duas) which let your thoughts wander for lack of concentration.  Even when you do the ritual prayers it is normal for the worshiper and it varies depending on the level of spiritual evolution and control. If you don't like the repetition and have a good memory, go right ahead and learn Arabic and memorize Quraan to recite portions in your ritual prayers when you do. It will take you almost a year to repeat the same sura again and I guarantee you when you know the meaning you  rarely will  have this condition. But the thoughts can a;so be directed to the other world heavenly journeys once you have good description of the paradise embedded.
The salutations and blessing on to the Prophet (saw) are a no cost securities account with 1000% gain with every salutation, Allah has said in Quraan to send salaams to Prophet, it will be returned 10 times of the blessings back to you. And last part is a supplication of the originator of this deen Ibrahim(as) The Prophet's GGG ............dad.
How any believer can go wrong doing this even if it is repetitive. The day today life is that way unless you work on evolving yourself in a rapid clip.
You can study  the life of the Prophet(saw) and get some idea on that. When you love the Prophet for what he did for us (he went to heaven to visit Allah and came back to complete his religion-I wouldn't have) then everything will be easy. Better late than never!
BTW He brought the Prayer as a gift for His servants to prepare them for the grand audience.
salaam
