Wa'alaikum Assalam:

Those sound yummy! I'm an All Recipes fan, and use this recipe to make faux Kentucky Fried Chicken.  I usually use boneless chicken breasts... and then slice it in strips for my kids.  It really tastes a lot like KFC.  (I don't make the gravy.)

DH is Egyptian and I often go to this site for ideas:

The Fattah and Penne Bechamel are both delicious. It also has a nice Arabic-English ingredients dictionary... which is handy when trying to communicate with my MIL!

Peace.

Macaroni and Cheese

For classic comfort food, macaroni and cheese has to come out on top.

Ingredients:

2 cups elbow macaroni
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
3/4 cup milk
1 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
2 cups Cheddar cheese

Macaroni and Cheese
Directions:

Cook pasta and drain.

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter. Stir in the flour, then gradually stir in the milk. Heat and stir until thick.

Remove from heat and stir in the sour cream, onion, celery, 1 1/2 cups of the cheese, and the pasta.

Put the mixture in a 2 quart casserole dish. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cheese over top. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 45 minutes. Makes 4 servings.

you can also check this Al Baik Chicken recipe from Fa's Kitchen below

Ingredients
  • 1 large chicken cut into 8 pieces (with or without skin)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 2 tbsp garlic paste
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 3 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme optional
  • 1 tsp dried parsley optional
  • 1 cup self raising flour you can also use all purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying
Instructions
  1. Prick the chicken pieces with fork.
  2. Mix together olive oil, ginger paste, garlic paste, lemon juice, cinnamon powder, 2 tsp red chili flakes, black pepper powder, dried thyme, dried parsley and salt.
  3. Marinate the chicken with the above spices for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  4. Beat the eggs in a bowl and set aside.
  5. Mix the self raising flour, 1 tsp red chili flakes and salt in a large zip lock bag and mix well.
  6. Dip one chicken piece at a time in the beaten egg. Transfer this chicken piece to the zip lock bag and seal it. Shake well till the chicken is well coated with the flour. (You can repeat the process for extra crispiness). Set the coated chicken pieces on a plate.
  7. Fry it in hot oil till done. I time the frying part for the perfect cooking. I generally cook on high heat for 5 minutes and then medium heat for approximately 10 minutes. It gets cooked perfectly for me.
