أَلَمْ تَرَوْا كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ طِبَاقًا
"Can you not see how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other". ....... Why Allah is saying "can you not see" to humans (if seven universes are meant) when we cant see/perceive the universe we are in let alone all seven universes. I wonder what does Allah mean by "heavens"........ the tone of Ayah suggests that its obvious sign for humans to see/perceive that there are seven heavens one above another , just like sun and moon . Kindly give your input and guide me to the correct interpretation. |

You have to read the next verse, which completes the meaning, to get an idea of the meaning. The two verses are:
[71:15] Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, [71:16] and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? (Arberry translation) So, if the sun is a lamp in all of the heavens, it means that it makes known what those heavens are, as it does by giving light off the moon. In other words, one has to know of the other heavenly bodies that circle the sun, which have been given several attributes in the traditions before Islam. |
