And which subjects are "secular"? Do you really think there is a differnce in schools on this basis? I think, the difference should have been on the basis of field in which one wants to go rather than differentiating schools on the basis of religion. Isn't it? Or then on the basis of quality of education, most simply put. Presonally speaking, "Alim" or "no Alim" must not be an issue here, though, best Alim is the one who not only an expert of his religion but also of the other fields as well.

I just meant like a traditional madressa in the islamic world somewhere preferablly Syria, where they emphasize Fiqh and Hadith and Quran and those kind of things over such subjects as math science etc.

Quote .......where they emphasize Fiqh and Hadith and Quran and those kind of things over such subjects as math science etc

Is there any Fiqh without logic? Also, Is there any math without logic? What is logic called in arabic? "Mantik". Changing name would not change the science? Isn't it? Got the idea? Yes, if Hadith and Quran is the objective, then why only look for those Madressa, why not modern Islamic schools where everything you said is taught on the modern footing of education and not through a rudimentary way.

Don't be discouraged.  Being an Alim is a field that can benefit you in this life and the next.   I'm sure you can find the kind of school you're looking for.  And if not, you could consider a different country (i.e Egypt, Sudan, Saudi Arabia etc).

The prophet s.a.w said "..... man salaka tareeqan yaltamisu fihi ilman, sahhala allahu lahu tareeqan ilaljannat..."  So I think it's safe to say your on the right track!

Can you please translate that for me

No offense Brother Ali08, but if you can't translate what what Brother Abeer23 said, then how are you going to study Islam in a Madresssa on your way to being an Alim?  Maybe you should start with learning basic Arabic first.

I'm sorry, I assumed Arabic would be easier for you.  My mistake.  I'm not a professional translator but I'll take a shot at it.

The over all meaning is that "he who takes a path seeking from it knowledge Allah will make easy for him by it the path to paradise,"

Khadijah, Abeer is a girl's name.  I'm not a brother I'm a sister  Also, Ali understanding Arabic is not a prerequisite for him studying Islam.   That's why so many texts have been translated into so many languages.  But I do agree with you studying Arabic is important as it is the language of the Quran.

Bro. Ali, if you're planning on studying in an Arab country then you should consider sis. khadijah's advice.  Most universities have a mandatory Arabic program for foreigners before they enter the kulliya of their choice anyway.  If you'd like to study in English, the International Islamic University of Malaysia (in Kuala Lumpur) offers degrees in Islamic studies and instruction is in English.

I know I need to study Arabic beforehand for an Arab country.  But I am a Syrian citizen so I don't have to do anythin mandatory for foreigners, Im glad to because foreigners can no longer study in private universities in Syria.  I didn't know that about Malaysia thank you sister for the advice

Assalamu Alaikum

Sister Abeer, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease forgive me.  See, I know the importance of learning Arabic because I haven't had the opportunity to yet and I am so excited that my soon to be husband (INSHALLAH) is so great with Arabic.  I didn't grow up in an Arabic culture nor do I even have my own little Ummah here where I live.  So, I was unaware that Abeer is a girls name.  I wish there was some why we could know on here for those of us who are not familiar with the names which are common to other cultures but not in our own.  Thank you for telling me Sister Abeer and again I am soooooooo sorry.  Please forgive me.

May Allah bless you Brother Ali for wanting to study His Path.  May He guide and bless you for your efforts.  Ameen

Allah Hafiz

Bro. Ali, you're welcome.

Sis. Khadijah, don't worry about it.  Believe me you're not the first person on this forum to mistake me for a guy.  Hey, congratulations on your engagement.
