Peace Bro Whisper -
As with most of your threads, I will have a self-destruct button ready if I didn't understand what your intention was. End Preamble - Begin Attempt at Reply One simple question: what turns a human being into a Neo Con? One simple answer: Retrospectively watching the 'good guys' work over their own people (and others) - it helps alot to foster a diamond hard pragmatism alot like the English had developed in the face of the constant Holy Wars - in a nutshell, "if this what the peacebringers of religion can do - how can we do worse?" So, early on, we can see how major failures of religious culture (and other catastrophes) led to further political and philosophic insularity on an already clannish and clubbish nation. Personal: A few of my pals from Mount Lebanon, PA went on from HS to college to international law and politics - quite a few had gone on to become Neo-Con in their tenor when I caught up with them 15 years down the line. When I asked how they could confortably sit with those divisive views, the answers were about identical. "Every other country when they have had the chance has behaved the same way or worse." A Further Thought: When we were kids, we were introduced to the sadistic horrors of what the Spanish (amongst others) did to the native Americans, after their successful purging of Muslims and Jews from the mainland of Spain. Spain went into it's long decline, losing hold of most of it's real estate - and then only within the last century offering the world an opportunity to embrace Franco's death-affirming fascism. So the historical neo-con might say as Nietzsche says - "Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws" And then proceed to divvy up the spoils to the club. Hope this was remotely on topic. Yours in Deen, Jamal Morelli Edited by Jamal Morelli |
