Election 2007: Liberals are on their way to victory By Wasi Siddiqui (Member of Canadian Author Association) On July 26, 2007, Premier Dalton McGuinty announced that Immigration Minister Mike Colle had to resigned over the scandal involving $32 millions were given to immigrants and culture groups without official application and formal statement of proposal. The Premier not only accepted the resignation but sends a strong message that on one will be allowed to misuse the public office. Since coming to office in October 23, 2003 he has been often criticized for so-called Broken Promises, but to be honest, he done exactly as a he supposed to do by raising taxes, a person who got the responsibility to lead a province has more understanding of the issues and knowledge as he has to balance the budget and keep the province running smoothly. In fact, Premier McGuinty asked Former Provincial Auditor Erik Peters to examine the provinces finances soon after he assumed the Premiership of the Ontario in 2003, and it was revealed that out-going Conservative government has left an hidden deficit of at least $5.6 billion, this can give an answer to all those opponents of Premier McGuinty who are criticizing him for no reason. Although the Conservatives questioned Peters's methodology, and suggested that the McGuinty government was overstating the province's financial difficulties to break or delay some of its campaign spending promises. The truth is that Premier Dalton McGuinty has no idea that this campaign promises will suffer a blow with those hidden deficit. Liberal Government , are by any standard has achieved more success than any other past governments , by tackling big issues like , New immigrants issues , raising of hourly salary to $10.25 by 2010. In fact, the Liberals government has been increasing the hourly wages since 2003 in order to bring prosperity in every walk of life people. As the Progressive Conservative MP John Tory, has set his eyes on the Premiership job, has raised the issue of cutting the taxes to fund the different minority schools such as Islamic, Christian and Jewish schools, which has been criticized by Ontario Liberal education minister Kathleen Wynne, who says such a move will result in segregation among the minority schools and will create division and racism. The Liberals Government had made remarkable achievements in the field of health care by spending millions of dollars to reduce the long waiting time in the emergency department of the hospitals, by injecting $142 millions in ER doctors salaries , opening more hospital beds, moving patients more quickly to long-term care centers and reducing gridlock in highways by building extra-lanes with the investment of $400 millions to build bridges repair roads, improving of the public transportation system by investing $1.2 billions in transportation infrastructure.
The government brought in auto insurance reforms (including a price cap), rolled-back a series of corporate and personal tax cuts, passed legislation that enshrined publicly-funded healthcare into provincial law, hired more meat and water inspectors, opened up the provincially-owned electricity companies to Freedom of Information laws and enacted a ban on partisan government advertising. With the provincial elections schedule for I wrote a poem for the liberals and their success in elections: The Liberal Party The only political party of our province Which is ambitious and trust-worthy Which success is a fact of its past history A party which can run the province effectively Buidling highways , healthcare, transportation Just few things to show great sincerity A few people might have difference of opinion But to create confusion, it their only ability Vote for the future, vote for the prosperity Your destination of hope and unity A party which is led by is glorious personality The Liberal party Premier Dalton McGuinty (Copy Right 2007) Wasi Siddiqui |
