Yes this is my attempt to say "See we are human after all" This is
representative of only 40% as opposed to 60% in 1993 of the Israeli sentiment. This was at the height of the peace process. Clinton Mubarak, King Hussien (OBM) and Arafat (OM) were hammering out the Peace and the Hamas was blowing up civilians in Tel Aviv. Sharon, BB were waiting in the wings as if in concert with the Hamas. It's amazing that civilians on either side of this conflict can stagger in the right direction. Our loyalties are strained to the limit. Most Palestinians hold a secret or not so secret admiration for the "Martyrs" I saw framed posters of the twin towers burning in many Cafe's in Nabulus and Ramaula along the sides of these hung pictures of smooth faced suicide bombers forever trying to look grown up, frozen behind 4mm of glass. No one's children should die. Dreaming of vegetables TOI-Billboard, January 6, 2007 The Other Israel email updates in cooperation with Occupation Magazine Dahamesh Village near Ramla in imminent danger of destruction Nori Al-Okbi - Bedouin Rights Defence Association - The houses of a thousand people were given demolition notices, and the entire village is in imminent danger of being demolished and completely erased. Ramla Mayor Yoel Lavi has declared that The solution for this village is Two D-9 bulldozers, accompanied by two companies of Border Guards (Riot Police). Once these become available, The bulldozers will move freely, from one side of the village to another. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=18447 Tali Fahima: `My crime was to protest at Israeli assassinations` Conal Urquhart/ Tim Butcher - The Guardian/Telegraph - For nine months of her incarceration she was kept in isolation, without access to any distractions such as books or television. "I used to lie on my bed and think about Jenin, the people I met, and wonder how things were going there. I never get bored on my own," Tali Fahima said.(...) "My first crime was that I refused to work with Shin Bet, the second was that I insisted on going to see the Palestinians and the third was that I protested against the Israeli policy of assassination," Tali Fahima told the Guardian in her first interview since her release. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=18445 Mubarak: either demilitarized region or Egypt goes nuclear too Roee Nahmias - Ynet - "We said that the region should be demilitarized of mass destruction weapons and that we dont want nuclear weapons in the region, or else we would be forced to also bring in nuclear weapons so that we are not attacked at any time," the president said. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=18444 Bil`in protest - against Wall and against Palestinian infighting ISM/IMEMC - Jabril al Joub, of Fateh, commended the unanimity amongst Palestinians fostered within Bilin, and cited the death of Yasser Arafat as significant catalyst toward the current political crisis. Kais Abu Leyla, also of Fateh, echoed the call for unity between Islamic and nationalist parties, to put an end to factionalism.(...) Israeli soldiers took positions at several locations along the expanse of the primary fence and immediately opened fire. Several Bilin residents were injured, including at least one who was taken to the hospital for treatment. An Israeli activist also received first aid after suffering burns from a tear gas canister. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=18443 Detainees in Hadarim call for an end to internal clashes Saed Bannoura - IMEMC - Palestinian detainees imprisoned at the Hadarim Israeli detention facility called on the Palestinian factions to end all sorts of internal clashes and violence. The detainees said that the factions should resolve their differences peacefully instead of resorting to violence. The detainees who are confined to solitary said that all detainees in every detention facility will carry a hunger strike on January 14 and several strikes in February and March. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=18441 Decision time Yaakov Katz - Jerusalem Post - "Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh told The Jerusalem Post in November that sanctions were unlikely to work and that Israel must be prepared to thwart Teheran`s drive for nuclear capability "at all costs," even in a preemptive strike. Since then other leaders have added their voices, including Vice Prime Minister Shimon Peres who recently declared: "Iran too can be destroyed." http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=18440 The IDF and my daughter`s hamburger Sam Bahour - "Well, we were in the center of Ramallah yesterday afternoon, at 3:40pm when the almighty Israeli military decided, again, that it was time to wreak havoc on our city. I should not really complain since what happened in Ramallah yesterday happens across the West Bank and Gaza regularly. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=18439 Sad holiday - a report from within on how Palestinians survive Adel Shadid - Thousands live in such dire conditions that they can only dream of vegetables and bread; they pass whole long days without any food, pass the cold mountain winter without heating, lighting candles in order to save electricity, walking on foot or riding donkeys in order to save travelling fares. The number of the poor and hungry is ever growing. The unemployment rate among Palestinians is enormous, and in practice it can be said that the entire Palestinian people is unemployed. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=18436 If I were a Palestinian Uri Blau - Haaretz - "If I were in the Palestinians` situation, I would make our lives bitter. I would not blow up women and children. I`m totally opposed to that. But yes, I would fight against the foreign occupier. When you take a person and put him up against the wall and don`t leave him many options, then what do you want him to do? (...) In this battle soldiers are legitimate targets. My father was in the Etzel [Irgun]. There was the British occupier and he fought against it. The Palestinian is fighting against the Israeli occupier. When you come and call someone a `terrorist,` the definition is totally subjective. I consider the Etzel fighters freedom fighters, and the British considered them terrorists..." http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=18435 The Shuhada Street opened? Not quite Akiva Eldar - Haaretz - senior IDF officers discovered that the closure of Old Hebron`s Shuhada Street to Palestinians had been done "by mistake." The mistake has now lasted for six years. Activists from the Israeli organization Children of Abraham and from the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) accompanied Palestinians trying to benefit from the army discovering its mistake. The results were rather predictable. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=18432 For articles of the past week, lookinto the "categories" of www.kibush.co.il, such as: Commentary on current events http://www.kibush.co.il/datapage.asp?lang=1%20§ion=8 especially recommended: Shulamit Aloni: Indeed there is Apartheid in Israel Siege & Checkpoints http://www.kibush.co.il/datapage.asp?lang=1%20§ion=4 especially recommended: Amira Hass: Marking the territory etc. -- TOI-Billboard is the 'ezine' of the independent THE OTHER ISRAEL bi- monthly peace newsletter, existing since 1983, and published by its editors Adam Keller & Beate Zilversmidt. Salaam Shalom May Allah keep you ever safe, you are a jewel amongst thorns at times. If only many knew how many Isrealis deplore the actions of our governments as well as americans! Israel and Ismael are brothers, why should they harm each other! |

Sister Maryah is absolutely right. Daniel, your people is cousin to Palestinians. Nothing could function rightly until Israel propose to build hospital and school for the children of Palestine. Israel has to be extra patience in this time.
Communicate with Palestine directly and not through a third party. Lacking of communication is the root to misunderstanding. |
