The Crescent was never a symbol of Islam in the days of the prophet PBUH, it 1st appeared arround the year 75 after hijra in Bani Omaya time with a star next to it as a symbol which was put on flags and then on top of mosques, The Abbasids and the Othman Empires after them continued to use this symbol, so it has nothing to do with Islam but was born with Monarchies who ruled the Islamic worlds (Umawiyoun, Abbasids, Othmans).

Rami I thought you never liked using "Wikipedia" as your source of reference....lol
Robin the star and crescent are not symbols of Islam. They are representations of countries and unfortunately, they have been adopted as emblematic symbols of powers in various organizations and groups. I remember writing about this years ago. In those threads I wrote about this topic on, if there are ever to be a representation of Islam this flag would be it:
Minus the sword this is a representation of Islam.
The words read: "La ilaha il'allah, Muhammadun rasul'allah!" which means there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger
