family + sister friendly masjids NY

I have only been to a masjid once, I am ashamed to say. I am truly religious and follow Islam but my family never went to masjid, at least not together, only the men do, and i have this guilt that overcomes me every Friday. I don't know what to do - the one masjid i went to was not very sister friendly and i became afraid after to step into one after that.  Can anyone recommend a masjid to me? 

Also, my family is very much stuck in the dunya. My father treatss my mom terribly by always shouting at her about random things and my mother wishes terrible things on him in return - sometimes they yell at each other while they are standing on the janamaz (prayer rug) getting ready to namaaz. My siblings are all in their own world, and we're just not tight like Allah would want a Muslim family to be -  I think our problem is that even though we go through all the rituals and believe in Allah there's something missing - what do i do? What are some Islamic things my family and i can do together to get closer
