If you had a chance to study to learn Arabic oversees where would you go?
Where would you go to learn the Arabic in the Quran?

I know many places have their "version" of Arabic does learning say Arabic in Morocco help you to understand Quranic Arabic?

If someone were just starting to learn and wish to do more of an immersion program, as opposed to classes in US,  where might be best?

I am interested in peoples' opinions.

Thanks

Hayfa

Qatar, Bahrain or Saudi would be my choices in that order.

The American University in Cairo would be a great experience where you could take classes and get some immersion though you would pick up Egyptian dialect from that as well.  Some countries actually offer scholarships for new muslims to come study Arabic and the Quran.  I have not looked into it myself, but I have known women who have.  There are classes offered in Jordan as well.  Some are exchange programs through US universities and others are strictly for lanuage programs for foreigners.

The only reason I wouldn't recommend Saudi is because as women we have to deal with Mahram issues in Saudi and it can be difficult to get around without a male mahram or escort.  I am not sure what programs Saudi may even offer that a woman could go to.

I will see if I can find anything online that maybe helpful for you and post it once I find it.  I think it would be a great opportunity for you to learn.  Just make sure you look at all your options.

MashaAllah, a complete answer.

Else , sis Hayfa you can also join classes of our sister {Salams wife}. Don't worry , she shall charge less fee to you . Smile

Is it that we can learn to speak arabic fluently if we learn  it online ? That shall be very helpful to me too. Earlier, i joined an institute, but cud not continue there.

Searchtruth.com does have an online course.

Here are some good links I found:

http://study-arabic.amerispan.com/ - http://study-arabic.amerispan.com/
http://www.uga.edu/islam/Arabic.html - http://www.uga.edu/islam/Arabic.html
http://www.vanderbilt.edu/islamicstudies/studyresearchabroad - http://www.vanderbilt.edu/islamicstudies/studyresearchabroad

Also, if you have questions about what books would be good for self study and what are the best dictionaries I would be happy to help you with that.  There is a lot of arabic study books out there, but it is easy to buy the wrong ones and waste money when it wasn't necessary.  If your goal is to concentrate on Quranic arabic then you have to be even more careful because some dictionaries add a lot of dialect into them.  Please let me know if I can help you more in any way.

Auzubillahi minash shaitan ir Rajeem,

Bismillah ir Rahman ir Rahim

Assalamualiakum wa rahmatullah,

The online arabic courses on http://www.sunnipath.com/Academy/OnlineCourses/Department.aspx%20 - SunniPath Academy are specially designed to learn arabic with the aim of understanding Quran and Hadith. They follow the Sibawiyah curriculum which was fashioned to aid non-arab Muslims learn the language of the deen.
Further most of their teachers studied at Jordan, so I guess that would be a good place to go if I had a chance as that will provide a wider prospective of learning quranic sciences as well.

Allah knows best.

Why would you think it is cheap to study arabic?   That is the language the Quran was writtin in and that should be respected.

Tunisia is really easy and friendly. Cairo also nice. If you want to get started with books, there's a lot out there so it's a bit confusing. There's this  big review or Arabic language books and methods,
http://www.asiteaboutnothing.net/w_arabic.html - http://www.asiteaboutnothing.net/w_arabic.html , only for beginners but that might suit you. Then Amazon has loads of reviews about everything. Good luck with this amazing language.

Respected with money??

Shouldn't some good Muslims teach it even for free as charity?
We find all kinds of charities all over the world, believe me even 10-20 afordables muslims can run such program with their Zakat amount. I don't believe that there is no such initiative in the world.

What better charity one can do than enabling someone to understand the Quran?

I personally would love to, but I am too looking for a source to learn on line or by books. Recently I came across a lecture on the topic in Peace TV from Dr. Mamdouh N. Mohamed, I liked his analogy to the approach of learning Quaranic Arabic. He has a book & complete package called "ARABIC: A Bridge To Islamic Culture". That's available in this site: http://www.arabicforeveryone.com/ - http://www.arabicforeveryone.com/

I tried to buy on line but unfortunately they don't ship outside USA, so I couldn't get it. Don't know how to get it in Asia. Any help from anyone would be appriacted.
