Hello,
I am a student of Cross Cultural Communication, and would be very grateful if members of the Muslim Sisters forum would take my survey that will be used as data for a study that I am conducting about Muslim and Western perceptions of femininity.  I would also be interested in any comments you wish to post about the survey on this forum.  My questions were originally inspired by a recent trip to Palestine.
Thank you!
Blessings,
Krista

It is interesting your survey. I could not really fill it out as for what I have learned many of the traits Islamically, are actually neither feminine or masculine- for instance, humble, modest, loyal.

I think that also how people define words and how they perceive them are two different things.. For instance people may define "submissive" as a "feminine trait" yet having lived in Pakistan some of the most assertive women I have ever met were from there.

I think it would be helpful to give questions of contexts.. like
"If your child was having a problem in school would you:
a. Say nothing  b. speak to the teacher   c. get your husband or brother to do it.

I think it would be fascinating to do a cross- cultural study because when I lived in Pakistan you perceive that women are submissive but the more you know, EVERYONE is submissive to someone. Live the #1 person is the Mother.. and people don't cross mother. And Islamically speaking your mother is THE most important person.  And its a hge conflict for many people woh are not used ot that how subbmissive the husband can be to the mom.

Also questions like consulations with spouse, family etc.
