How many Rsk'ats are in the Fajr, Dhohr,
Asr, Maghrib. and Isha prayers. I'm trying to learn the units of prayers. Then I learned that there are Prayers done before and after the obligatory units of prayers. I am confused.

Salam/Peace
Fajr (morning before sunrise) 2 unit fard (obligatory), 2 unit sunah (optional) before only.
Dhuhr (noon) 4 unit fard (obligatory), 4 unit sunah (optional) before, 4 unit sunah (optional) after.
Asr (afternoon) 4 unit fard (obligatory), 2 unit sunah (optional) before only.
Maghrib (after sunset) 2 unit fard (obligatory), 2 unit sunah (optional) after only.
Isha (night) 4 unit fard (obligatory), 2 unit sunah (optional) before, 2 unit sunah (optional) after.
Fard (obligatory) means you have to do it, if don't you will get sin (not consider you've performed the prayer yet), if you do it you get reward.
Sunah (optional, recommended) means you don't have to do it, if you do it you get reward, if you don't, it's OK.
My suggestion for the beginning just to do the obligatory. After you are getting useed to it, you can add the optional. Just do it gradually, little by little.

Can someone Translalate the following Prayer into Arabic for me; it's a recitation from my prayers and it needs to be in Arabic. Thanks. Here are the words:"O Lord make me one who establish regular prayer, and also(raise such) among my offspring.O our Lord! And accept thou prayer. O Lord! Cover (us) with thy forgiveness---me, my parents and all believers on The Day that the Reckoning will be established." Jazakalla Khair.

Salam/Peace,
Qunoot is optional, and some people who read it, they read it on prayer fajr only.

The standard reading of Qanoot is in Witr that is Wajib( non obligatory but close ) remembrance ... the some people thing can not be standard in Fajr... People do do supplicate in all sorts at the time of great troubles but making it a standard is another matter! So keep as simple as per sunnah! Masalaama

optional are in supererogatory/ recommended category! after are 2 supererogatory & 2 units are optional nafal!
Asr (afternoon) 4 unit fard (obligatory), 2 unit sunah (optional) before only.
No sunnah at asr
Maghrib (after sunset) 2 unit fard (obligatory), 2 unit sunah (optional) after only. It is 3 units fard not 2 ; 2 sunnah are supererogatory or recommended
Isha (night) 4 unit fard (obligatory), 2 unit sunah (optional) before, 2 unit sunah (optional) after. 2 after are sunnah supererogatory/ recommended and 3 Witr Wajibs

optional and recommended are in separate categories
