Indeed in their stories [that is, the stories of the prophets]
there is a lesson for men of understanding. This (Quran) is no invented
tale but a confirmation of the previous (books), a detailed explanation
of all things, a guidance and a mercy to people who believe. {Yusuf
12:111}
Why did Allah, Glory be to Him, relate
some of the stories of the Prophets in the Quran? How did Allah decide
to portray them? And what lessons are there to be learnt?
It is inherent in our human nature to take on role models, it is
therefore crucial for us to choose the right ones. For this reason, our
Creator has put before us the great examples of the Holy Prophets. The
Quran makes it perfectly clear that these stories are not told for
entertainment purposes, but for lasting guidance and as a source of
wisdom which has a direct role in our own daily struggles with faith and
practice.
By extracting some of the key dialogues and debates of selected Prophets
detailed in the Quran, this course takes on a unique approach to truly
understand the dynamic nature of faith, trust, sacrifice and patience.
The Quranic discourses of our great Prophets such as Ibrahim, Nuh,
Musa, Issa, Dawood and Mohammad (peace and blessings upon them all)
reflect the same struggles, trials, and tribulations faced by people of
faith at all times and places. Hence this course will offer practical
guidance to help us implement key lessons such as dawah techniques and
etiquettes of dua to name a few, in our lives today.
