Asalaaam Alikum...

 I am 17, from America, and a convert to Islam.

 I have been Muslim since i was 14...

 I am having trouble with praying, i dont pray on time, and sometimes not for days at a time...i feel stupid, i feel bad, dirty...i feel i could cry at any time. WHY AM I DOING THIS TO MYSELF? I dont want to go to hell...

 I wear hijab to school, but i am confused...i wear jeans and shirts that go past my nid thigh, but it doesnt feel right...i feel bad doing that...i get comments from people, from guys abt myself, they think its sexy or something because i'm covered...one of my teacher made fun of me...

 I hope this makes since, i cant think straiget...

 I need to talk to somebody...

I am sorry to hear of your troubles.  Perhaps you need to focus more on what is important as a Muslim - worshipping and pleasing Allah.  When one bends their mind to that, and only that, all things fall nicely into place. 

All humans go through periods of ups and downs.  Surely all Muslims struggle with their own personnal jihad to overcome their own ego and comply to the will of Allah only.  It is never easy. 

Pray sincerely to Allah.  Remind yourself constantly what being a Muslim means and always stay conscious of Allah.  What others say is unimportant, though that is hard to comprehend at your age.  Do you live near a mosque or Islamic center?  It is important for Muslims to have good, pious Muslim friends that they can feel good around.

Read the Qur'an daily, even if only a few verses at a time.  Make lots of remembrance of Allah throughout the day.  Keep Allah in mind whenever someone says something hurtful to you and the hurt will not be so bad.  If you can manage to keep your mind and heart on pleasing Allah, a joy and contentment will fill your heart and make your life so much easier.

Sister Aisha, alhamdulillah you are doing a good job struggling to be a muslim. May allah always be with you, guide you and protect you, insha allah, ameen.

I have a friend from a country where there are regulations on women wearing hijab, thus she cannot put it on, tho she is not in here home country. In this country, where she is studying people make trouble for her, the Prof. gets upset when she is offered wine and she refuses and the sort, men are disrespectful to her, including muslim brothers, unfortunately, ... Sometimes people think they can be a judge over us, when they are not. They make funny remarks to discourage us in our endeavors, without understanding what we may be going thru.

It is better not to pay attention to them. Keep your resolve firm in your heart. Allah is watching, and he understands the hearts and intentions, so we should not worry about what people think. If we make efforts to be steadfast in religion, even before we ultimately achieve our goals, the rewards are counted for our intentions alone.

You may have started to cover recently, and it could be that your attire does not go very well with the hijab. Try to change your wardrobe slowly. No need to rush. You can start with wearing long-loose shirts on your jeans. Later replace the jeans with loose trousers, insha allah that will change your look.

You seem to feel guilt that you are nt covering ewnough or somthing. Please udnerstand that you shouldnt do this!!!

Things come on time and Allah loves people who take small steps at a time. The most important thing is your mental and Phsycological health . Just believe in yourself and believe in the mercy of Allah and never ever feel that any body can judge you . No body and no human whatever pious he or she is can judge you. Every person has his own circumstances . I know a revert in sweden who sadly went off islam because she was pushed to a limit she couldnt take People treated hger exacftly as if she was born in islam and as if she as a revert never have any problems.

Sister, Talke it easy on yr self and go closer toi Allah in small but steady steps. Best thing is tpo have a program and stick by it . Best thing is to read teh Quran regularly .
