. I altered a pattern for an overcoat to create a jilbab. An entire outfit (slip, jilbab and headscarf) can be made for about $17.00 (Cdn.). It is not that hard to alter patterns (trying out of kraft paper first, saves a lot of money!).Posted By: Suleyman

Bismillah, Are you in America? WalMart has a thin, long sleeved cotton shirt with a higher neck than usual, with sequins. I find nice, long skirts sometimes at Good Will shops et cetera. Look for jumpers there too, because those are easy to add a long sleeve shirt to. (When they have a long slit, sometimes you can just sew it up half way, or add a piece of contrasting or matching material.) It's really hard to find a good shirt these days inexpensively because the style now is to show the belly button.
