Assalamu alaikum.
There is no definite evidence that the Jews in the time of Jesus son of Maryam in his three years ministry did not believe in him. I am of the understanding that all that is said is a distortion of reality on the ground. The Jes at that time were from the tribes of Judah and Benjamin with the Levi clan among them. The Northern Kingdom suffered most for their sins. The southern kingdom was more devout. If Jesus first preached in Samaria, this is equivalent to the 13 years of Muhammad's preaching in Makka. If the population of the Levi clan was small one would expect him only to preach on the nature of YWHW. It was most likely in the southern kingdom that one would expect him to preach on the written and oral law. I conjectured this from John 8 javascript:winOpener%28forum_codes.asp,codes,1,1,550,400%29 - , for the incident took when Jesus walked out to Mount Olives. The Levi clan, the authorities of the written and oral law were more numerous in the southern kingdom. This is similar to the establishment of the simplified written and oral law by Muhammad in Medina where the Levi clan waiting for the messiah lived. The first issue to address is: Who were the inhabitants of the Northern and Southern kingdom? Were they only the Jews? One would never expect the levi clans to reject a message from Allah for they were already covenanted to keeping to the law. Who were those then who rejected initially the teaching of Jesus accusing the tribes of Benjamin, Judah and the Levi clan of rejecting him?
