Assalamalaykum Dr. Naik,

I was born non-muslim. Couple of years back I fell in love with a muslim girl. I expressed my desire to get married to her. I heard a lot of public lectures delivered by you in this regard. I understood that I will have to become muslim. Gradually I learnt arabic to read Quran, started offering namaz and then converted. Today I follow and practice the teachings of Islam by heart & not out of any compulsion. I have infact read the english translated version of Quran as well. And I am all set to continue following the path of Islam for the rest of my life.

My question to u is can I get married to her now under Islamic law.

Waiting for a response.
Allah hafiz

with warm regards,
Arsh Ahmed

Salam,

Dear Br. Arshad, first welcome to ICforum and welcome to Islam.

Dr. Naik is not here (in this forum). Regarding your question, from our understanding, yes, now you can marry here under Islamic law.
Might other forum members can give some words about this too.

Wa alaikum assalam, it is great to hear that you have embraced Islam sincerely and are following its teachings wholeheartedly. According to Islamic teachings, a Muslim man and a Muslim woman can get married under Islamic law (shari'ah). Since you have embraced Islam and follow its teachings, you can marry a Muslim woman. For the marriage to be valid, the woman needs to have a wali, typically her father, brother, or another male relative to act on her behalf during the nikkah. Also, the nikkah should be witnessed by two reliable muslims witnesses. I would still be advised to seek more guidance from Islamic scholars as well to get more guidance and ensure that everything is done according to Islamic teachings.
