I think it may be time to remind Muslims that there is nothing in the Quran or the hadith that specifically forbids pictures of Muhammad.
There are several several hadith that forbid pictures of any living thing, human or animal, but if you own a computer or a camera or subscribe to a newspaper or magazine, I'm sure you violate that on a regular basis. Even Islamicity has numerous pictures of people on its Web site.
So if you are going to oppose any depiction of Muhammad in media, and you think this has some basis in Islam, then you need to stay off Islamicity and you should probably stop using your computer altogether.

KKid,
what is your proof that it was the picture of prophet Mohammad (may God's peace be upon him)?

Sure they were not forbidden, at least in historical times.
If you google "Muhammad historical paintings" (and than click on images) you'll find many authentic ones - made by Muslims.
In Iran there are still postcards showing Mohammed in circulation.

First of all find out what or who a plonker is.
Secondly atheists will four big logs on four sides and the fire will be hotter.:)
I hope you see sense or get guidance from Allah subhana wa Ta'ala before you die so that the above will not occur.

You are the one that made the claim, not me. I am just asking what is your proof to your claim.

Islam (submission to God) is a continuation of what was sent to the prophets before. Some things were understood and were already in practice. God has said before, to not to make images or idols of living things. And it was practiced by those who knew God and His commands. It is for that reason the Jews and Muslims do not make images or idols of any living thing, let alone of God or holy men, the prophets of God. It was a new deviation, like many other, by those who now call themselves Christians that not only made images and idols of God and the prophets and some others they refer as Saints. Some of the Christians adore them, kneel to them, pray to them, even worship them.

Can I conclude from that that in your eyes Muslims that make/made or keep paintings of Mohammed have not "really understood" Islam?
In more general terms, where do you draw the dividing line ? Is it something like: pictures of living things on the Internet are ok, paintings are not ?

Hasan, just take a look at the home page of Islamicity.com. You'll find several pictures of people ("living things") there. Are they wrong to display them?
