A Christian showed this scripture to me and I just wanted to get a Islamic answer about what Sahih al- Bukhari Book 73 Num 224 - 225 means. I dont believe it is what they say it is and must be a misunderstanding. Just so you know. I am a Buddhist not Christian or Islamic.

Volume 8, Book 73, Number 224 :
Narrated by Abu Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "The most awful name in Allah's sight on the Day of Resurrection, will be (that of) a man calling himself Malik Al-Amlak (the king of kings)."
Volume 8, Book 73, Number 225 :
Narrated by Abu Huraira
The Prophet said, "The most awful (meanest) name in Allah's sight." Sufyan said more than once, "The most awful (meanest) name in Allah's sight is (that of) a man calling himself king of kings." Sufyan said, "Somebody else (i.e. other than Abu Az-Zinad, a sub-narrator) says: What is meant by 'The king of kings' is 'Shahan Shah."

The hadith teach us to be humble. "I am King of King" is very arrogant statement, only Allah/God is The King of King, Allah doesn't like the arrogant, that's why Allah doesn't like that name.

Jesus calls himself the King of Kngs. Is this a reference to him?

I did some research and discovered that Jesus never claimed to be the King of Kings. Who is this person who calls himself King of Kings?

Malik ul Mulk is Allah Himself.
This title is reserved for Him alone. None amongst His creation should compete Him in this.
Similarly Allah has said Arrogance is my upper garment and pride my lower garment and any who vies Me in this, I shall destroy him and I do not care ... this is another instance that cautions against beingt haughty and arrogant, else we eran His anger.
