assalamu alaikum

It is stated in a Hadith, Hazrat Abu Hurairah sallallahu alaihe wasallam reports that the Apostle of Allah sallallahu alaihe wasallam said, "He who sees me in a dream has certainly seen me, because Satan can not take my form."

(Bukhari, Muslim)

Dreams from the lives of the scholars

Imam Malik:

Abu Mus`ab recounts the following story:

I went in to see Malik ibn Anas. He said to me: "Look under my place of prayer or prayer-mat and see what is there." I looked and found a certain writing. He said: "Read it." It contained the account of a dream which one of his brothers had seen and which concerned him. Malik recited it [from memory]: "I saw the Prophet in my sleep. He was in his mosque and the people were gathered around him, and he said: I have hidden for you under my pulpit (minbar) something good or: knowledge and I have ordered Malik to distribute it to the people." Then Malik wept, so I got up and left him.

Shaikh Mahmoud Ba`youn al Rankousi (1910-1985 AD):

Shaikh Mahmoud once said that he saw the Prophet sall Llaahu `alaihi wasallam in a dream where he "gave him" his tongue (the symbol of "speaking the Sunnah"). Indeed, when he used to narrate the Hadeeth, it was as if a door was opening, allowing the listener to directly perceive the splendor of our Prophet's wisdom and character. Indeed, he was besaught by foremost scholars from all over the world, seeking Hadeeth and Islamic Sciences as well as the Naqshbandi Way.

Imam Bukhari:

Imm Bukhr devoted his entire life, in the search for the way of life given by the Holy Prophet sallallhu `alayhi wa sallam, in acting upon his sayings and researching into this science. His each and every action was a fragment of the way of the Messenger. Warrq stated: "In a dream, I once saw Imm Bukhr walking behind the Prophet sallallhu `alayhi wa sallam and his feet would fall exactly where the feet of the blessed Prophet had fallen."

Farbar stated: "Once in a dream, I met the Holy Prophet sallallhu `alayhi wa sallam and he asked me, 'Where are you going?' I replied, 'To Muhammad ibn Ism`l [al-Bukhr].' He then said, 'Go, and give him my salm.'"

Just as the Holy Prophet sallallhu `alayhi wa sallam had happiness with Imm Bukhr during his lifetime, he was also pleased with him after his death. Concerning this, `Abd al-Whid ibn آdam Aways stated: "I saw the Holy Prophet sallallhu `alayhi wa sallam in my sleep standing with a group of his Companions. I asked, 'O Prophet sallallhu `alayhi wa sallam, who are you waiting for?' He replied, 'For Bukhr.' After a few days I heard the news of Imm Bukhr's passing away. He had died at the very moment that I saw the Prophet sallallhu `alayhi wa sallam in my dream."

The Waliyah Nafisa at-Tahira (145Ah-?)

Sayyida Nafisa used to pray the five prayers regularly behind her father in Masjid an-Nabawi (s) from the age of six. Her father used to take her by the hand and enter inside the room of the grave of the Holy Prophet (s), which is the house of Sayyida `Ayesha . He would address the Prophet (s) directly saying: "Ya Rasullullah!, O Beloved Prophet of Allah! I am pleased with my daughter Nafisa!" He continued these visits repeatedly until one day the Prophet (s) appeared to him in a dream saying to him, Ya Hasan, I am pleased with your daughter Nafisa, because you are pleased with her, and Allah is pleased with her because I am pleased with her.

Imam al Ghazali

Ibn al-Jawzi narrated in al-Thabat Inda al-Mamat ("Firmness at the Time of Death") from al-Ghazzalis brother Ahmad: "On Monday [14 Jumada al-Akhira] at the time of the dawn prayer my brother Abu Hamid made his ablution, prayed, then said: Bring me my shroud. He took it, kissed it and put it on his eyes, saying: We hear and obey in readiness to enter the Kings presence. Then he stretched his legs, facing the Qibla, and died before sunrise may Allah sanctify his soul!" It is related that al-Shadhili saw a dream in which the Prophet (s) pointed out al-Ghazzali to Musa (as) and Isa (as) asking them: "Is there such a wise scholar in your communities?" to which they replied no.

Insha allah khair.
