Dear Sister,

As-salam-u-laikum! Have you read the 99 names of Allah? If I am wrong what I say I pray that Allah forgives me. The word "Ya" in English means "Oh" And I think if I am not wrong that Suboho would mean "Sabur" or "Patient": "Qudoso"= "Holy": "Ghaforo= "forgiving": "Wadodo"=loving. These are four of the names of Allah(SWAT). I don't know Arabic well, but I wanted to try to answer you to the best of my knowlege. Peace.

Salem Danty

No, I have not. But now Inshaallah I will.

Yes, I remember Ya is Oh in English. Well,  it has a couple of meaning if I remember correctly from Arabic class few years ago. But, Oh is one of them.

I was directed to say this Dua'a and I did not know what it meant in English.

Thank you so much!

The last three being called are already explained by Danty, the first one is I think "Glory". Like in the Qur'an it says "Sabbaha lillaahi ma fis samaawati wal ardhi".

I read this below here after tarawih in romadhon, usually by following other people, without "Ya". Malaaikat means Angels and Ruh is Spirit.

Subbooh, Quddoos, Robbul Malaaikati war Ruuh.

Does sound like chanting at Xmas Carol waiting for the Holy spirit, maybe it is.

The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. (97:3)
The angels and the Spirit descend therein, by the permission of their Lord, with all decrees. (97:4)

Bismillah,

Dear Sister Suzanne,

Calling upon the names of Allah, SWT, aids us in every aspect of our lives.  Maybe the person suggested these names for the specific problem or worry you have, but reflecting on all of His names and attributes will bring us all peace and many other good things, ISA.  May Allah, SWT, increase your knowledge and bless you and your family.

Assalaamualaikum

like superme said the last three meanings by Danty are right and first one by superme is correct.

Allah knows best.

"And (all) the Most Beautiful names belong to allah, so call on Him by them....." (  سورة الأعراف  , Al-Araf, Chapter http://www.searchtruth.com/chapter_display.php?chapter=7&translator=5 - #7 , Verse http://www.searchtruth.com/chapter_display.php?chapter=7&translator=5#180 - #180 )

"Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Invoke allah or invoke the Most Beneficent (allah), by whatever name you invoke Him (it is the same), for to Him belong the Best names" (  سورة الإسراء  , Al-Isra, Chapter #17, Verse #110)

Salem,

I am really thankful for all the help

Another question. What does Ya Qabue mean? Is this another of ALLAH swt names? I was looking thru the 99 beautiful names and the one close was Al-Qabiz that I found.

Bismillah,

Sure thing, chica!

There is no trying or effort except with Allah the Great's will.

This is always a good thing to say!  Look down and you'll see it's the same thing as my signature except that I've transliterated it differently, and mine doesn't have Atheem, the Great in it.

Oh, and I might as well mention the "azeem" thing.  See, mine is Atheem.  It could be Adheem also.  But the word in Arabic is with the th sound in the and there.  Now, our Pakistani family says the z, but the Arabic is the hard th sound.

Peace!
