Electro convulsive therapy (ECT) dumps energy into the subjects brain ARGUABLY releasing naturally occurring anti convulsants. It takes the view that depression is a long term seizure. Then there is vagal nerve stimulation. A coil is surgically implanted in the neck on the vagal nerve and triggers energy into the vagal nerve every few minutes-the result? Similar to ECT but not as barbaric. Non invasive vagal nerve stimulation is similar to vagal nerve stimulation but the causative mechanism uses electromagnetic transformer action to stimulate the vagal nerve. In effect nuerolepic (Latin for brain seizing)
