Salam Alaikoam

The word Islam means to submit to the will of Allah, God, the Creator.

Therefore everyone is Muslim as we all submit in degrees to Allah, God, The Creator.

Each of us is free to choose our path as there is no compulsion in Islam.

So as far as I understand it there are many paths to choose from each as valid as the other though some more appropriate maybe than others.

Allah, God, The Creator guides whom he chooses and gives each of us the freedom to choose our path.

However I believe we cannot leave people without Guidance, Education, Counseling or Consultation.

I am wondering then why some laws are focused on physical punishment when Education, Counseling, Consultation and Guidance might not be more approppriate than being beaten, hanged, stoned etc.

I believe that if people have access to excellent Education, Counseling, Consultation and Guidance they will make better choices.

People left to their own devices when they face difficult challenges means they may not have all the skills or tools to meet the challenges well.

My question is then why is there not more focus on Education, Counseling, Consultation and Guidance when it comes to dealing with issues of inappropriate behavior.

Physical punishment is not likely to stop someone from doing something.  However Education, Counseling, Consultation and Excellent Guidance is more likely to inspire good and kind behavior in people.

What do you think about an Inter Faith Call to an Education, Counseling and Consultation with Guidance Jihad (Jihad means struggle and the first level is with self)

Because after all Allah, God , the Creator created each of us for a High Station and Great Purpose.  Namely to know and Love Ourselves, Others and Allah, God, the Creator.  Love and be loved.

[007:011]  It is We Who created you and gave you shape; then We bade the angels bow down to Adam, and they bowed down; not so Iblis; He refused to be of those who bow down.

Just because Iblis did not bow down to us does not mean we are not of a High Station.

Salam

Anne Marie Elderkin Habibi

As-salmu-laikum Anne Marie! You do have a point sis! Everyone does need guidance and counseling. The only thing is that some people are so stobborn to get it. Life is interesting in its own ways eh? May Allah keep you in good standing.

Alaikoam Salam

Danty I strive not to falture or fail may Allah guide me well and give me the strength and courage to ask for help when I need it and may we all do the same Inshallah.

Counseling has done wonders in my life though there have been some failings however in the end I have become a better person I believe.

So how long has it been since you accepted Islam, just curious?

Salam

Anne Marie

Dear Anne Marie,

Assalamulaikum, I grew up in a muslim household. Though, my mom was Christian when I was younger. She was Christian 18 years of their marriage and then converted to Islam. I hope that Allah helps all of us in this forum to keep us on the straight path. Sincerly.

Dear Ann Marie,

In my view, the straight path is Islam. The straight path is for the one who follows Allah's demands and His only. To strive to good and forbid all evil. To strive for the happiness of Allah. To live a life of obediance and to live a good life so that in the hereafter your life will be filled with peace and no kind of pain. Ann Marie are you a convert?

Alaikoam Salam Danty

Yes you can call me a convert.

I believe in Islam however I do not agree with some forms of correction dictated in Sunnah or in the rest of the world as I believe Education, Counseling and Consultation are true Justice.

I am still on a learning curve in understanding all there is to know about Islam ie submitting one's will to Allah not to be confused with the will of Man.

Nice chatting with you.

Salam

Anne Marie

Annie Marie if I may, are you of any particular sects in Islam? I am curious because you constantly say Consultation, Education and counseling in many of your sayings as I have read. Either yoiu subscribe to a particular tenet within the structure of Islam or perhaps you subscribe to something which is an associated teaching of Islam, regardless your repetitive statement on counseling, education and consultation has lead me to wonder.

I'm not Muslim so I don't know I was hoping you can fill me in and please, I would appreciate a straight forward answer. As I have read so far Muslims here tend to talk around their answers i.e "Everyone is Muslims etc" I'd just like a 'yes' and if so 'are you shia?' or 'Sunni?' or the like.

Apex,

Before Anne Marie replies, I would like to clarify that consultation, counselling and education is already stressed on in Qur'aan.

The Arabic words Shura, Fata-bai-yan-nu and Ilm in Qur'aan encourage all that she has mentioned. Any Muslim reading Qur'aan will know that.

Unfortunately that is where the Muslim world failed and now they realise that education, consultation and counselling have to be revived and speeded up.

It is never too late but it is still too early to say if Muslim leaders have really woken up from their slumber to this urgent need.

Bmzsp thank you for your overview,

But I was curious because she uses the words every other sentence and this is unlike other Muslims whom have responded here. I would like here explanation if she would be so kind to entertain me, but bmzsp thank you for your well thought out explanation...

At the moment I do not belong to any particular sect of Islam, I am finding out for myself what Islam means to me, how I want to express my Islam and where I belong in terms of Faith.

I am still exploring my options.

However if you read my more recent posts you will get a clearer glimpse of my beliefs and understanding of Islam.

I am not following anything just because it is in a book or some one says to follow, I am determining my path.

Have had computer down so having to access it else where is a bother.

Will think about all your questions further. Inshallah

Alaikoam Salam

The reason I talk so much about Education, Counseling and Consultation is that few religions spell this out plainly.

Also we are in crisis in many parts of the world and Education, Counseling and Consultation can help in the Great Sorting Out, Surah 99, 1-8 where we will be shown what we have done good and what we have not done so good and then sort further into resolution groups to resolve any challenges in an Inter Faiith setting.

Though I will add again, Islam the word means to submit to the will of Allah and we all do this in degrees, 10%, 20%, 45%, 65% etc and therefore there are more than 10 Billion Muslims and we are each free to choose our path of return to Allah.

Therefor it is my belief that Christianity, Buddhism, Judahism and even Hindu and Seikism are valid expressions of the evolution of Islam and are paths that are valuable from which to choose.  Even choosing to be a free spirit is a valid path choice.

As there is no compulsion in religion and Allah guides whom He will.

Everyone has the right to choose for themselves their spiritual path.

Though seeing as many people are having a challenge deciding what path to follow that is where my Inter Faith Education, Counseling and Consultation Jihad comes in.

But there are many subjects that need attention and work, like family violence, sexual health information accessibility to a certified clinic as well as everyone having access to training for employment purposes to name a few challenges.

In all this humanity is made up of Muslims first and then the way they express their Islam, ie Muslim the religion, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism etxc. There fore it is appropriate to say Salam Alaikoam to everyone you meet.

Of course these are my opinions.

Anne Marie

Hi Anne Marie,

Salaam Alaikum.

From you:"Therefore it is appropriate to say Salam Alaikoam to everyone you meet."

You are correct.

Alaikoam Salam

These are things I have learned from my research over the past 10 or 15 years.

Some people do not agree with my theories and that is okay too as we are all intitled to our opinions.

We shall see where my research will bring me in future, inshallah to a place of peace within myself firstly and secondly peace within my family, thirdly within my community peace and fourthly within my Nation and fifthly within the world, God willing.

Mashallah may we all be ready to meet our challenges with knowledge, grace and dignity.

Peace

Sister Anne Marie
