Does anyone know of a  copy of the Koran  online that flows pretty smoothly in English.  I have a couple in paperback, and to be honest they are choppy with losts of words in (   ) and the like.  It just doesn't flow well at all and is a distraction to study.

Has any translator done better than this for us English speaking folks?

here is the name of a very good english translator of the Qur'an -

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

his english translation of the Qur'an is used by most of the people all over the world....my suggestion is that you go for his translation....

Is this one a pretty accurate translation into English?

It seems to flow a lot better and does not come across as choppy like so many others do.

I think the first time through the easiest translation is best.  If you want to go back and study yes, insist on an accurate translation the next time around.

I recommend people read the OT in The Message and the NY in NIV when they read the Bible the first time.  Both are inaccurate paraphrased versions but they are correct in major themes and are excellent preparation for tackling the old-fashioned prose of the true translations.

The real danger with both Qu'ran and Bible is in trying to read and giving up because the translation was too dry.
