SalaamAlaikum,

Do any Sisters wish to appear in an article that encourages women to get tested for STD's and HPV (The Human Papilloma Virus that causes Uterine Cancer), and make sure the men they are thinking of marrying get tested for STD's?....I'm doing an article about "Female Problems", and I'm looking for Muslim Sisters who've had an STD---Mainly HPV-- to appear--Anonymously. I know its TOTALLY EMBARRASING, but telling your story will help the next sister AND SAVE HER LIFE!!!!

Salaam,

I think this is a WONDERFUL idea and much needed. Although I do not suffer from HPV (or STD's), I still think its good to encourage Muslim women to get their Husbands tested for STD's before, and maybe even DURING marriage... I knew of an HIV positive Muslim Sister in NY, and she was infected by her Husband after 20 years of marriage. He had been the ONLY man she had slept with in life--and I cried as I read her story...But still, I wonder if this is something that women think about: GETTING THEIR HUSBANDS TESTED..

I mean: Do Muslims Even Get Tested!?

And what about these brothers who bring home a Second Wife?? She might be "bringing home" something else. No offense to Seconds Wives, but I'm just being realistic about the situation. (and wouldnt the second wife care about the STD status of her Future Husband and the First Wife??)

Anyway, Good Luck!!

Wa-Salaam

I read about a preventive methods that they are working on for women, like a gel the woman can use so she does not have to ask her partner to wear a condom. And she can then protect herself. This is crucial as 85% of women are getting it like Muslima07 said.. from their partner who they were monogomous with and her husband cheated on her. And this would benefit women where divorce is not really an option as they are in certain parts of the world.
