Hi everybody,

I've been given an assesment question asking: 'Evaluate the importance of the Five Pillars of Faith to contemporary Muslims'. From what I have researched, each remains as relevant as it did in the 7th and 8th centuries. Anybody have any insight into this?

I'd really appreciate this ASAP. Thankyou kindly

Each pillar is as important as the others.  One cannot be Muslim if one rejects even one of these pillars.  Of course, Islam is much more than just 5 pillars, but they are the "essentials."

1. Faith in Allah (swt),

2. Prayer,

3. Charity,

4. Fasting and

5. Pilgrimage to Mecca.

Reject one and you reject the others as well.

Say: "Truly, my prayer and my service of sacrifice, my life and my death, are (all) for Allah, the Cherisher of the Worlds. (Surat al-Anaam: 162)
