Sahih al-Bukhari 1600 (Book 25, Hadith 86) #1537
Performing 'Umra

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) performed the 'Umra, which included Tawaf of the Ka'ba and offering two rak'at behind the Maqam. He was accompanied by people who were screening him from the public.

Narrated Isma'li bin Abu Khalid: 'Abdullah bin Abu 'Aufa said, "Allah's Messenger performed the 'Umra. He performed Tawaf of the Ka'ba and offered two rak'at behind the Maqam (Abraham's place) and was accompanied by those who were screening him from the people". Somebody asked 'Abdullah, "Did Allah's Messenger enter the Ka'ba?" 'Abdullah replied in the negative.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Prophet Muhammad's performance of 'Umra, a pilgrimage to Mecca that is one of the five pillars of Islam. During this pilgrimage, he performed Tawaf around the Ka’ba seven times, which is a sacred house for Muslims located in Mecca. He also offered two rak’ats behind Maqam Ibrahim, which is a station believed to be where Abraham stood while building the Ka’ba with his son Ishmael. People were accompanying him during this process to screen him from public view as an act of respect for his status as a prophet. However, he did not enter inside the Ka’ba itself during this visit. This hadith teaches us that we should show respect and reverence towards prophets and religious figures by shielding them from public view when necessary and performing acts such as pilgrimage with humility and devotion to God Almighty.
