Sahih al-Bukhari 1601 (Book 25, Hadith 87) #1538
Refusal to Enter the Ka'ba with Idols Inside

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) refused to enter the Ka'ba while idols were still inside and cursed those who put pictures of Abraham and Ishmael holding Azlams in it. He then entered the Ka'ba and said Takbir at its corners but did not offer prayer in it.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: When Allah's Messenger came to Mecca, he refused to enter the Ka'ba with idols in it. He ordered (idols to be taken out). So they were taken out. The people took out the pictures of Abraham and Ishmael holding Azlams in their hands. Allah's Messenger said, "May Allah curse these people. By Allah, both Abraham and Ishmael never did the game of chance with Azlams". Then he entered the Ka'ba and said Takbir at its corners but did not offer the prayer in it.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect places of worship; avoid engaging in sinful activities according to Islamic teachings; say Takbir at corners of holy sites like mosques or churches; follow Prophet Muhammad's example when visiting holy sites like Mecca etc..

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Prophet Muhammad's refusal to enter the Ka'ba while idols were still inside. He was angered by those who put pictures of Abraham and Ishmael holding Azlams in it, which he believed was a form of gambling, so he cursed them for doing so. After that, he entered the Ka’bah and said Takbir at its corners but did not offer prayer in it. This hadith teaches us that we should never engage in activities that are considered sinful or wrong according to Islamic teachings, such as gambling or idol worshiping. We should also be respectful towards places of worship like mosques or churches, as they are sacred places for Muslims and other religious communities alike.
