Sunan an-Nasai 1331 (Book 13, Hadith 153) #15939
Praying with Attention to Detail

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ prayed three rak'ahs and then said the taslim. Al-Khirbaq noticed that he had only prayed three, so the Prophet led them in praying the remaining rak'ah and then did two prostrations of forgetfulness.

It was narrated from 'Imran bin Husain that: The Prophet prayed three (rak'ahs) then said the taslim. Al-Khirbaq said: "You prayed three". So he led them in praying the remaining rak'ah, then he said the taslim, then he did the two prostrations of forgetfulness, then he said the taslim (again).

QUICK LESSONS:
Pay attention to detail while performing prayers; Respond humbly if someone points out an error you have made; Take corrective action if necessary .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of paying attention to detail when performing prayer. It was narrated from 'Imran bin Husain that the Prophet performed three rak'ahs and then said taslim, which is a signifier that one has completed their prayer. However, Al-Khirbaq noticed that he had only prayed three instead of four and so informed him. The Prophet responded by leading them in praying the remaining rak'ah before saying taslim again and doing two prostrations of forgetfulness as a precautionary measure for any mistakes made during his prayer. This teaches us to be mindful when performing our prayers as even small details can make a difference in our worship being accepted or not by Allah SWT. We should also take note from this hadith about how we should respond if someone points out an error we have made; rather than getting defensive or angry, we should accept it humbly and take corrective action if necessary.
