Fasting Everyday is Not Necessary

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad was asked about fasting and he got angry. He then said that whoever fasts every day of their life has not actually fasted.

It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that: the Messenger of Allah was asked about his fasting and he got angry'.Umr said: "We are content with Allah as our lord, Islam as our religion and Muhammad as or Prophet". And he was asked about someone who fasted for the rest of his life and said: "He neither fasted nor broke his fast"'.Ata said: "someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the importance of fasting in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad was asked about his own fasting habits and he became angry at the question. He then said that it is not necessary to fast every single day of one's life in order to be a good Muslim. Instead, it is important to have faith in Allah as your lord and accept Islam as your religion with Muhammad as your prophet. Furthermore, Ibn Umar added that if someone does choose to fast every day of their life then they have not actually fasted at all. This hadith teaches us that while fasting is an important part of being a Muslim, it should be done with moderation and balance rather than overdoing it or taking it too far by fasting everyday for the rest of one's life.
