The Prophet's Monthly Fasting Schedule

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad used to fast three days of each month, on Mondays at the beginning of the month, and the following two Thursdays.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that: the Messenger of Allah used to fast three days of each month: Monday at the beginning of the month, the following Thursday, then the Thursday after that.
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ، عَنِ الْحُرِّ بْنِ صَيَّاحٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ يَصُومُ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ يَوْمَ الاِثْنَيْنِ مِنْ أَوَّلِ الشَّهْرِ وَالْخَمِيسَ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ ثُمَّ الْخَمِيسَ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that the Prophet Muhammad used to fast three days of each month. He would start with fasting on a Monday at the beginning of the month, then he would fast on the following Thursday and then again on another Thursday after that. This is an example for us to follow in our own lives as Muslims; we should strive to emulate his example in all aspects of our lives. By fasting regularly, we can learn self-discipline and patience which are important values for any Muslim. Additionally, it is a way for us to connect with Allah and draw closer to Him through prayer and reflection during this time.
