The Prophet's Monthly Fasting Schedule

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad used to fast three days of each month, specifically the first Monday, then Thursday and the following Thursday.

Hunaidah Al-Khuza'i said: "I entered upon the Mother of the Believers and heard her say: 'The Messenger of Allah used to fast three days of each month: The first Monday of the month, then Thursday, then the following Thursday".

QUICK LESSONS:
Fast according to Islamic teachings

EXPLANATIONS:
According to a hadith narrated by Hunaidah Al-Khuza'i, the Prophet Muhammad used to fast three days of each month. Specifically, he would fast on the first Monday of every month, then on Thursday and then again on the following Thursday. This is an example of how Muslims can practice self-discipline and strive for spiritual growth through fasting. It also serves as a reminder that we should take time out from our busy lives to focus on our relationship with Allah and reflect upon His blessings in our lives.

Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam which are obligatory for all Muslims who have reached puberty or are mentally mature enough to understand its importance. It is a way for us to show gratitude towards Allah by abstaining from food and drink during certain times throughout the day during Ramadan or other months in order to gain spiritual rewards from Him. Additionally, it helps us become more mindful about what we consume as well as teaches us patience and perseverance when faced with difficult situations in life.
