Fasting Three Days of Al-Bid Equivalent to a Month

SUMMARY: The Prophet commanded people to fast the three days of Al-Bid, which is equivalent to fasting for the whole month.

'Abdul-Malik bin Abi Al-Minhai narrated from his father that: the Prophet commanded them to fast the three days of Al-Bid. He said: "That is (equivalent to) fasting for the whole month".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا حِبَّانُ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ بْنَ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ أَمَرَهُمْ بِصِيَامِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامِ الْبِيضِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ هِيَ صَوْمُ الشَّهْرِ

This hadith is about fasting during the three days of al Bid, which is equivalent to fasting for an entire month. It was narrated by 'Abdul Malik bin Abi al Minhai from his father that the Prophet said that this was equal in reward and benefit as fasting for an entire month.
