Charity Requirements for Camels, Sheep and Goats

SUMMARY: No charity is required for less than five camels, sheep, or goats.

It was narrated from Abu Saeed Al-Khudri that the Messenger of Allah said: "No Sadaqah is due on less than five Dhawd (head of camel), and no Sadaqah is due on less than five Awaq, and no Sadaqah is due on less than five Awsuq".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous with your giving; Think about how your actions can benefit others who may be in need; Pay Sadaqa when you have more than five animals

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the requirements of charity when it comes to animals such as camels, sheep and goats. According to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, no charity is due on less than five of each animal. This means that if a person has four camels or fewer they do not need to pay any charity on them. The same applies to four sheep or fewer and four goats or fewer. This hadith teaches us that we should be generous in our giving and not try to get away with paying as little as possible in terms of charitable donations. It also encourages us to think about how our actions can benefit others who may be in need of help from us financially.
