Repentance Rewarded with Blessings

SUMMARY: The Prophet sent a collector to collect Zakah and when the man gave him a slim, recently-weaned camel, the Prophet cursed him. When the man repented and brought a better camel, the Prophet blessed him.

It was narrated from wa'il bin Hujr that: the Prophet sent a collector and he came to a man who brought him a slim, recently-weaned camel. The Prophet said: "We sent to Zakah collector of Allah and His Messenger, and so-and-so gave him a slim, recently-weaned camel. O Allah, do not bless him nor his camels!" News of that reached the man, so he came with a beautiful she-camel and said: "I repent to Allah and to His Prophet". The Prophet said: "O Allah, bless him and his camels!" (Daif)

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about repentance and blessings. It was narrated from Wa'il bin Hujr that the Prophet sent a collector to collect Zakah from people. When he came to one man, he gave him a slim, recently-weaned camel as his contribution. The Prophet was displeased with this offering and cursed the man for it. News of this reached the man who then came back with a beautiful she-camel as an apology for his mistake and asked for forgiveness from Allah and His Messenger. The Prophet accepted his repentance and blessed both him and his camels in return for his sincere repentance. This hadith teaches us that if we make mistakes or do something wrong, we should not be afraid to repent sincerely because Allah will accept our repentance if it is genuine and reward us with His blessings in return for our efforts at making amends. It also teaches us that we should always strive to give our best in whatever we do so that Allah may bless us even more than what we have given Him already.
