No Sadaqah on Slaves and Horses

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that Muslims do not have to pay Sadaqah on their slaves or horses.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: "The Muslim does not have to pay Sadaqah on his slave or his horse".

QUICK LESSONS:
Give generously according to one's ability; Be mindful of one's obligations towards society; Be aware of what is expected from you in terms of giving back; Give charity/sadaka/zakat according to Islamic teachings; Respect others' property rights; Follow Islamic teachings regarding slavery & horse ownership

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ regarding charity and zakat. He taught that Muslims do not have to pay sadaqah or zakat on their slaves or horses. This means that if a Muslim owns a slave or horse, they are not obligated to give any money as charity for them. This hadith teaches us the importance of being generous with our wealth and giving charity to those in need, but it also shows us that we should be mindful of our obligations when it comes to giving charity. We should only give what we can afford and be aware of what is expected from us in terms of giving back to society.
